Sustainable Art
Sustainable Art
TIn this module, we were asked to design a piece of sustainable art, and I decided to create a collage using rubbish I collected from around the university campus. I was shocked by how much usable material I found—old flyers, food wrappers, broken pens, and bits of packaging. Instead of seeing waste, I started to see texture, colour, and shape. The collage became a kind of visual commentary on student life and consumption. Alongside the artwork, we had to document our process in a video. Filming and editing it made me reflect more deeply on the choices I was making—not just creatively, but environmentally. This project made me realise how much potential there is in the materials we throw away, and how art can be a powerful way to start conversations about sustainability.
