Chop Block Typeface is a modular display typeface for the Birmingham Design Festival 2025. Designed for a University Module, with the theme of 'play', I have been inspired by Bauhaus, De Stiji and Art Deco influences, exploring how a limited set of shapes can be used to build a full character set while still feeling expressive and playful. I developed the letter forms through hands-on experimentation with paper modules and bitmap sketches before refining the final typeface digitally on Adobe Illustrator. The final outcome included a complete alphabet, numbers and punctuation, presented through a type specimen booklet, an A2 poster, and in-situ mock ups to how the font could work in a real design.
